01 Name your ledgers
So the vouchers post to the ledgers your accountant already uses.
- Go to Accounts → Tally ledgers.Only the owner or the accountant can change ledger names; a manager can see them.
- Set Show accounts used in to the period you will export and choose Reload. The list shows the accounts used in that period, plus every customer, supplier and bank account.
- Beside each account, type the name it carries in your Tally company and, where there is a second box, its Tally group.Leave a box blank and the name shown in grey is used.
- Tick Only ones without a name to see what is left, then choose Save.Use Octyn names clears a whole section back to the grey names; it too needs Save.
02 Build the pack
The Tally files travel with the CA pack.
- Open CA pack, choose the Period, and choose Build the pack.
- Read Before you send it.It lists anything left out of the Tally vouchers — for example a day whose meter reading is not in yet — and two accounts that share one Tally name.
- Choose Download the whole pack (ZIP), or XML beside Tally vouchers and Tally ledger masters for those two files alone.
03 Into Tally Prime
Two files, in this order.
- If the Tally company does not have these ledgers yet, import the ledger masters file first. You can also download it from Tally ledgers with Ledger masters (XML). It uses the names you have saved.
- Then import the vouchers file.It carries sales, receipts, purchases and payments with their party ledgers. Fuel sales arrive as one sales voucher per outlet per day.
Done. Your accountant gets the period in Tally without retyping it. Open it in OCTYN.
